Archives: Bring Your Child to Work Day-Isaac's turn

We had gorgeous weather today!  It was in the 50's and sunny.  I was so happy to get the kids outside for some bike riding and play time with friends.  They enjoyed it too.  I didn't bring the camera though, so I went looking through past albums and decided to share pics from Isaac's trip to work with Bryan.  They're from June 6, 2011.

All packed and ready to go!

Waiting on the bus-exciting!

Izzy on his way to work.

And he's on campus.

Working hard.

Snack time!

Listening to some music while proofreading.

Strike that.  He's listening to Transformers.

"Is this Daddy's floor or is it the one below?"  (Sorry, that's sort of a quote from Bye Bye Birdie.  I couldn't think of anything else to say about the elevator.)

Saying "Hi" to the fishies while at the HUB.

Enjoying some Christian Chicken Glory!  (What my friend calls Chic-fil-a.)

Izzy loves to pick up free papers.   Reading helps him unwind on the ride home.

Slumber Party!

Bryan was away at a conference a couple of weeks ago, so the kids and I had a slumber party one night.  They were super excited!  I brought their mattresses downstairs and they made their beds up all cozy.  We popped some popcorn and turned on the movie.  We started out with Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol.  Lorelai didn't care for Jacob Marley so we had to turn it off.  Next the kids watched a Phineas and Ferb movie and then we started Gnomeo and Juliet.  I dozed off and woke up at 11:20 to find that the kids were still wide awake!  The TV was turned off and we all settled down for some sleep.

The next day, Bryan came home bearing gifts.  Lorelai received a special trinket box with bear in a forest on the lid.  Isaac got a railroad spike with a mini train on top of it.  They were both thrilled!  We were all happy to have Bryan back home.  Oh yeah, I got a moose magnet.  :)

"Weird Al" Yankovic - Yoda (lego style)

Star Wars

Isaac received some wonderful Star Wars toys from Uncle Edward and family and from Grandma & Grandpa Venters for Christmas.  This has sparked such an interest and imagination in him!  Isaac spends everyday playing with Luke Skywalker, Han Solo,  and the rest of gang in the Millennium Falcon and recreating other things with Lego.  We have spent several days building our own droids and tonight he made his own Pod Racers!  He's so clever.  We've also enjoyed watching all the movies via Netflix.   Iz especially likes R2-D2, Darth Vader, and of course, Yoda.

I love the built-in Lightsaber holder.  :)

Lorelai and her Origami

Lorelai loves all crafts!  She can keep busy all day just cutting up paper.  But what about folding paper?  For Christmas this year, Grandpa Priddy decided to get Lore some origami.  She got some nice instruction books and lots of colorful paper!  Here's what we've made so far:

Daddy helped Lore make an origami doll.  This is Origami Rapunzel.  :)

Here's our first tulip and stem.  It turned out quite well.

We made a whole bouquet of them.

Lore with her origami penguin that Grandpa made her.

We also made some hearts, which I can't find for pictures.  Oh well.

Since I've Been Gone...

Over a month-wow!  Well, February is the month for me to get on track with several things.  I'll start a few days early and update my blog.

Finishing up December 2011:  We were blessed to have family come and visit for Christmas!  My parents and sister, Shannon, came from Oklahoma and my brother, Kyle, came up from Virginia.  Unfortunately, Ed, Brandi, Kayla, and Drew were not able to make it.  Lorelai was out of school for about 2 weeks and Bryan took some time off of work.  It was wonderful to get to spend so much time together!

Mostly, we all just hung around the house.  Due to warmer December temps and lack of snow, we weren't able to ski, snowboard, or tube at Tussey Mountain.  We did, however, enjoy some time eating out, shopping, and playing games-like speed scrabble.  Fun!

The kids had so much fun spending quality time with the family.  From toys to writing to craft projects to reading books, Lorelai and Isaac kept everyone busy.  I think there were a lot of great memories made that week.

My family went home a few days after Christmas.  We then celebrated the New Year by spending the day with new friends.

We all got to celebrate Kyle's birthday together with a lasagna dinner and cake!

Super-fun gift from Great Grandma Mildred-a motion activated candy dispenser (complete with M &Ms).

Reading with Grandma.  ♥

Anxiously awaiting that Christmas Eve present.

Lore was really surprised by her giant book of horses!

Hello Kitty tattoos from Aunt Shannon.

Motorcycles for boy time!

Rapunzel!

Isaac was watching Lorelai mix up her own lip-gloss.  Her signature flavor- Rainbow Famebow Schmambow is used daily.

Not the best picture-but this is Lorelai and Uncle Kyle doing some pottery.

We took the family to visit Lorelai's school and play on the playground.

Merry Christmas!
