It's Fall!

Well it's Fall.  The leaves are changing colors, the days are getting shorter, and the temps are getting cooler.  Tomorrow's high is in the 40's!  So, with Lorelai home again today, we decided to do a little decorating. The kids had fun with these window stickers.

The second part of the video won't load.  Sorry that it just cuts off.

ALSO TODAY:  We got to have a video chat with some friends that moved to the other side of the country this summer.  It was a giggly good time!

"Get in my Belly!"

If you looked into an alligator's belly, what do you think you would find?  Well, if it was Isaac's gator, you would find a lot!  Today Gator enjoyed a Walkie Talkie, flashlight, a can of lemon-lime soda, 2 knives, a pirate skull, arm and legs, a toupee, hatchet, and 4 guinea pigs (orange circles)! Oh yeah, he also had paper for dessert.

And...here's a couple of pictures of Isaac playing castle with his stuffed animals, Mr. Tiggycrinkle, Sable, and Plumpy (gingerbread man beanie).

Trains!

Isaac has been enjoying "The Little Engine That Could" lately (both the book and the movie).   He has been reenacting the story with his trains and he's gotten quite good at putting the track together on his own!  He built a lot of this set-up this morning.

Lorelai enjoyed crafting while she was home sick.  One of her favorite projects was making caterpillars with Daddy.  The green on his face is a leaf.

Sick Day 2: "Pookiemon" Cookies & Board Games (Sept. 27, 2011)

Lorelai is still not feeling well and so stayed home from school again today.  The kids and I decided to make "Pookiemon" (Pokemon) Cookies.  Isaac was very excited about it!  They both got to help mix the ingredients, roll the dough, use the cookie cutters, and of course eat up the goodies!   Mom gets to do the dishes though.

Isaac and I also played a couple of board games, Candy Land and The Lady Bug Game.  He is really getting the hang of counting spaces, taking turns, and following the rules.  Much better than just destroying the board.  He won Candy Land and was looking good to win the Lady Bug one as well, but then he quit.  It was a fun 20 minutes!

Sick Day

Today was Lorelai's first sick day.  She had to stay home from school and will also miss dance class this afternoon.  She has a fever, a headache, and just isn't feeling very well.  Although she was disappointed to miss sharing time today, I think she is enjoying a day off to color, color, color!

Thankfully, Isaac doesn't seem to have come down with what Lorelai has.   He has been enjoying a new snack these last few days-Peanut Butter on a Graham Cracker and then topped with chocolate chips and sprinkles.  Mmmm.

April 20, 2011  We stumbeled across this Earth Day Festival and Isaac participated in a recycling relay.  It was so cute!

Yeah it's Friday!

With the 4th week of school finished, we are starting to get the hang of our new schedule.  Some things were dropped, so it doesn't seem so hectic right now.  I like that!

Monday- Lorelai had dance and I took Isaac to the library.   We played with their very nice Duplo zoo.

Tuesday- Lorelai received a "Growing as a Good Citizen" certificate for trustworthiness at an All-School  Gathering.  Unfortunately, Isaac's playdate for the day was cancelled.  It was nice however, that Bryan was home and the two of them played Transformers.

Wednesday- I attended my first PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) meeting.  It was a bit overwhelming.  I didn't commit to anything just yet, but plan to help out with some activities during the year.

Thursday- This was the first day that Lorelai did not want to go to school.  The full days  caught up with her and she just wanted to stay home.  It was a trying morning, but she did make it to school.  Isaac and I spent the morning sorting through clothes for an upcoming consignment sale and then he played trains.  We found out that afternoon that Isaac's soccer class had been completely cancelled.  He didn't even get to go to one class.  So Bryan took him out to get some cones and a new ball so that they can practice together.

Friday (today)- Well, this afternoon was a little scary.  I was waiting for Lorelai's bus  and when it arrived, Lorelai did not get off!  I panicked.  After myself and another mother asked where she was a few times the driver finally remembered that she had fallen asleep in her seat and as she sits behind him, he didn't see her in the mirror.  He almost drove off with her! The kids next to her woke her up and she made it home!  Whew.

Today was also Lorelai's first playdate with her new friend.  The little girl lives in our complex!  The two of them had so much fun playing and drawing.  Isaac even got to come along and play with her older brothers and their toys!  He had a great time too.

Throughout the week, Lorelai has been working hard on her "Book About Unicorns".  She has filled an entire spiral notebook!  I was impressed with the facial expressions and attitudes of her people.

Lorelai yawning after waking up.

I like these "running legs".  She's chasing after the unicorn.

Waving her finger in the air to make a point.

I love this!  Waiting impatiently for the unicorn with crossed arms, sad face, and tapping foot ( I don't do that, by the way).

She got really mad!

Lore looking through her finished book.  On this page, two unicorns meet and raspberry each other..  :)

Kids and Their Crafts

The kids made dioramas that they, for some reason, call "huts".   Above is Isaac's hut and Lorelai's is below.  They enjoy playing in them with their animal figures.

We spent 3-4 days making shape puppets out of foam, feathers, googly eyes, etc.  Lore wrote a book about the characters and took it to school on sharing day.
Rainy day painting activity.  Lore had a wooden Crocodile and Izzy, a lizard.
